Meet Izumi

Tokyo Destination Consultant

Izumi is Japanese, but with a sound knowledge of Western culture following 18 years’ experience of working in Europe. As well as fluency in Japanese and English, she also speaks German. She likes playing tennis and Golf.

Izumi was originally a graduate in English Literature, before spending many years with Nippon Airways, eventually rising to a training position. After relocating to Germany, she taught cultural training and Japanese language classes at various levels both privately and in-company. She also kept busy with the international community in Germany through volunteer activities in the International Schools, especially directing after school programs to introduce children to different countries and culture. She repatriated to Japan in 2008.

‘Moving to Tokyo is extremely challenging,’ she tells us. ‘Executives must be prepared to adapt quickly. Knowing where to live and how to find housing is a priority, but it’s just as vital to have contact with people who understand Japan and the way the Japanese do things.’

She looks forward to helping you make this transition.
